Opportunity is really knocking on our door. My dad accepted the job offer today, and we are for real moving to North Dakota! Who knows when? But we're actually moving (I will let you know dates as soon as I do) Crazy Sauce! I am super excited. As wonderful as our stay in Houston has been, i feel like my family has done most of the growing we can here. I am super excited for them to be closer to Provo, and have I told y'all about the 50 below Zero thing? =D Layers, layers, and MORE LAYERS!!!! Which is wonderful because I, personally, love layering. Yay! And besides, everyone knows that once you're hot, you're pretty much hot...at least when you are cold you can add on stuff and blankets and fire places and warm cocoa and more blankets and a comfy couch and a book...just saying. Doesn't it sound picturesque? Minus the fact that after all those layers, anyone would look like a marshmallow - either that or brilliant dog-piling material.
Anywho...what with the whole moving on thing, i thought that it would be nice to post something about how wonderful Houston has been for me, how close it has made me to the rest of my family, how excited i am to have lived here, how much i have enjoyed this chapter of my life, how i'm kinda stressing about all of the junk i have to pack, how scared i am to drive in a car by my lonesome all the way up to North Dakota, how amazed i am at how things find their things into every nook and cranny over the span of a few years, and how grateful I am to the Lord for providing all of the wonderful opportunities He has.
I would also like to point out that it is supremely important to try your hardest to Bloom Where You're Planted!
(Please click on the white box above to see the picture, it appears to be having technical difficulties.) That is one of the tidbits of wisdom and advice that my grandmother gave to us when we first moved to Texas. (She even gave us like 30 refrigerator magnets like the one above that i'm sure we will find as we pack everything into boxes.) And what wonderful advice it is! How important it is to make the most of whatever situation you find yourself in. What a brilliant thing it is to grow as much as you can in any situation - and not just grow, but flower! Make life beautiful. Make today a great day no matter where you find yourself. =D (And this is me attempting to sound philosophical, but i'm kinda failing..i just don't feel that I can stress how important it is to be happy and try hard for the sake of being happy and trying hard.)
Anywho...i thought that i would leave y'all with a little tidbit from my cousin's e-mail home a week or three ago...i thought that it was really funny:
****Quote of the Day****
So, we knock on this door and an older lady comes to the door. Before we could even say one word, she starts to bust out some jokes! "Why dont roosters Smoke?" -"uh... I dont know...." - "Kaka doodle *Cough!* *Cough!*" Oh ho, She didn't stop there though. "Why do Seagulls fly over the Sea?" - "uh..." - "because if they flew over the bay they would be Baygulls!" She told us that Laughter was the greatest cure for anything, and that she gave us Two full Doses! She didn't really let us talk to her more after that. she said she had to go watch her "Idiot Box." Jepordy was on. :) Yeah, I think we got an overdose after that.

1) v. to perceive, without counting, the number of objects in a small group. (could they not just say estimate?)
pursy
\PER-see\
1) adj. having a puckered apperance
2) adj. purse-proud
(I would like to point out the hilarity of this word due to the recent use of pantsy and shirty...let's add another to our repertoire, shall we?)
anomia
\uh-NOH-mee-uh\
1) n. the inability to recall names of people or objects
(This was actually the word of the day a while ago, but i didn't have the chance to post it...and i thought it was fantastic...who knew that there was a word for that!)
P.S. I cut my bangs...again. Thank heaven for the lack of drug-induced hacking this time around. ;) Maybe I will one day overcome my fear of cutting hair...in any case, this was a step in the right direction.
P.P.S. I was unhappy to discover that my favorite shaved ice stand is closed until further notice! You can imagine my shock and dismay when i turned the corner on that oh-so-familiar street to find that my favorite yellow trailer was no longer located in the parking lot of that gas station. Maybe all of my friends were right: Maybe they really were part of a drug ring, and maybe the fact that that one guy complimented my very ugly, very old, very boring white tennis shoes means that he thought i was the drop-off girl (and that's why he gave me a funny look when i said "thanks, i like them, too"...which was very close to the expected response of "thanks, i like yours, too" which everyone knows is completely ridiculous because I couldn't see his shoes. Or maybe they just didn't sell enough snow cones to stay in business...whichever floats your boat, though i must admit that i like the drug ring story better...maybe that's just the little rebel in me.
P.P.P.S. I need recipes! please help!
P.P.P.P.S. I'm almost not kidding about the plane tickets to help me pack...i have a lot of junk that should be sifted through by myself and close friends...not just the company guys that my dad's new employer hired...does that not sound creepy to anyone else? i mean, my room packed up by a total stranger. Consider this me with the jimjams. (hint: another word of the day =D)
P.P.P.P.P.S. Did you know that the quote that Willy Wonka says in the old film with Gene Wilder, "So shines a good deed in a weary world." (3:05 - or just watch the whole thing, that works too...P.S. Turn up the volume or you'll miss it) is actually very, very wrong?!?! I know, i was shocked, too. The real quote is, "How far that little candle throws his beams! So shines a good deed in a naughty world." (Shakespeare, the Merchant of Venice)...I mean, my goodness! I feel like that's pretty much the world of difference! Especially before you understand that naughty actually meant wicked. Just a little something to chew on. =D Yes, i stumbled on this tidbit through a series of google searches and link clicks.
P.P.P.P.P.P.S. Perhaps these all should've not been added as P.S.s...i feel like there's more to my P.S.s than there is to my actual blog post...Strike that: there is more to my P.S.s than there is to my post =D oh well…
P.P.P.P.P.P.P.S. Last one, I promise: it was pretty late when i wrote this (i mean, maybe 1:00a.m. isn't that late, but it is to my internal clock...especially considering the fact that i recently found my old rut of going to bed at 9:30 and waking up at roughly 6), so I apologize for any errors/ nonsense/ attempts at humor that are clearly, not humorous...this is me laughing and slapping my knee thinking that i am positively hilarious. Thank heaven for my wonderful sense of humor that gives me all the more reason to laugh.
That's all. Make today the BEST DAY EVER! Keep a smile on your face, and an extra handful of smiles in your pocket!

This is SO you. Like, all over! The message, the P.P.P.P.P.S.s (it reminds me of one of your "quick questions" hahaha), and everything! I love old people like that... I want to be one someday. Again, please let me know when you're moving ASAP so I can help!!!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA! I'm glad! I figured it sounded at least a little bit like me...and don't pick on me for having "Quick Questions" People like how i talk...lol...
ReplyDeleteWhen you talk about old people, are you talking about my grandmother? I want to be old like she is, too. =D And, don't worry, my friend: I think being old is inevitable.
We will be in Williston on Saturday, May 22...however, we don't have a place to live, so we might be living out of a car for a few days. We'll see how that works out. ;)
Oops...old people...the lady that my cousin bumped into...i can see you being that kind of old person =D
