Pencils and Paper-clips

A friend of mine keeps nudging me in the direction of posting on my blog again, and I have a few spare minutes, so here I go! :D

I am thankful for pencils and paper-clips. I feel like pencils and paper-clips are symbols of thoughtfulness and concern for another's well-being. What better way to say "I love you, and I was thinking about you today."? I don't think there is a better way. Especially if the thought-provoking individual loves office supplies. I mean, you can't really go wrong.

I am surrounded by amazing individuals who's thoughtfulness astounds me. So many of the people that I know helped me out in their own "pencil and paper-clip"-esque ways. A sweet girl down the hall let me borrow a movie that helped lull me into much needed sleep. A dear friend played with my hair while I left tear stains on her jeans. Sweet individuals proffered water and soup to help ease my sore throat. A caring grandmother gave me a grocery bag full of school supplies. Concerned roomies helped organize my stuff when I was too dizzy to stand. Caring individuals ask how I am daily...and they stop to hear the answer.

What an amazing opportunity it is to see others at their best. Everyone has their own level of penciling and paper-clipping, and I am very grateful for the levels I have seen the past week or so. Being ill isn't fun, but it definitely brings out the best in people. I mean, it's just so awe-inspiring to think of all of the time that is given up on behalf of others. People are AWEsome!

As a Side Note: I'm tired of writing in the journal that I have been writing in for the past two years, so I took all of the little handouts and notes that I have received since I came to BYU and paper-clipped them into my journal using some well-appreciated paper-clips. So now my bulletin board is empty, and my journal is full. I can't wait to find more quotes and notes to stick up. :D
